Hi, my name is Michael I am a student at the Sunyani Technical University in Ghana, West Africa. I have successfully designed and fabricated a 200-capacity incubator for hatching poultry eggs. The incubator takes between 26 and 27 days to hatch guinea fowl eggs.  I did this as part of my Higher National Diploma thesis where I developed a 200-capacity automated incubator and successfully hatched 180 out of 200 guinea fowl eggs; a success rate of 90%. This machine takes a considerably shorter period to hatch eggs as compared to how long fowls take to hatch their eggs. The increase of human population and high demand for animal protein calls for animal protein sources which can mature fast to fill the gap; and poultry products are the immediate source of animal protein. In order to meet this demand for protein, thus poultry products, there is a pressing need for artificial egg incubators for poultry farmers to increase production within a shorter period and within limited cost. This was my motivation to fabricate the automated incubator. Apart from the incubator, I also built a food dehydrator for drying vegetables and fresh fruits, as well as a brooder house heater for keeping day-old chicks warm. My goal is to obtain further knowledge to sharpen my skills upon successful completion of my degree program at the Sunyani Technical University.  If I become successful in my endeavor, I will establish a firm to produce these incubators, food dehydrators and brooder house heaters for sale to local farmers and farmers in the sub-region at low prices. I also want to train young people who are gifted in design and engineering on how to manufacture these machines as a way of creating jobs to earn a living. I look forward to your support to help me achieve this dream.
